Business districts

The city of Kolkata is famed for its big number of government offices and finest private houses, situated in Middleton Row, Alipore, Ballygunge, Chowringhee, and plenty of other districts. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport, 17 km away from the city, is the biggest air traffic centre operating in the eastern part of India. It serves around 20 million passengers a year, which makes it the fifth-busiest nationwide.  Also, it won ‘Best Improved Airport' award in the Asia-Pacific area. By 2021 the Airport will have the capacity to handle 40 million people a year.
